Formed in 1992, Georgia Industry Environmental Coalition, Inc. (GIEC) is a not-for-profit [501(c)(6)] organization of environmentally-regulated Georgia industries. Its diverse group of member companies, many representing the largest employers in the State, collectively represent an employee base that exceeds 55,000. GIEC's mission is to serve as a technically-based advocate for Georgia industry by promoting environmental regulations and policies founded on the protection of human health and the environment, sound science, and cost/benefit principles.
The basic purpose of GIEC is to identify and collectively address specific Georgia environmental issues of mutual interest to the membership. It is not GIEC's purpose to engage in political advocacy at either the state or national level.
GIEC expands the number and expertise of multiple companies working on an environmental issue of common interest.
